Runs from Cloudflare edge only — public internet view, independent of your location
This is not a raw ICMP ping (the kind a terminal ping command sends) — browsers and Cloudflare Workers can't send raw ICMP packets. Instead, every probe here performs a complete HTTPS round-trip: DNS resolution, a full TCP handshake, a full TLS handshake, then the HTTP request and response. All of that — not just one packet — is what's timed and reported.
Because of this, expect noticeably higher numbers than a terminal ping to the same host — a site that ICMP-pings at 15–20 ms will often show 60–150 ms+ here, and that's expected, not a problem. This method is used because ICMP is frequently blocked by firewalls anyway, while HTTPS reachability reflects what actually matters for real browsing and application access.
